amsterdam/london part 1

First, we flew from DFW to O'Hare. During our layover, we had the privlege of having a glass of wine in the admirals club. It was super nice and I wanted so badly to take pictures, but I felt kind of like a beverly-hillbilly being in there - and I didn't want everyone else to know! After we left, Dad pointed out this hallway that used to be his office when we lived in Chicago. This was where he worked when he started at AA a million years ago.

Jac and I enjoyed our pre-flight champagne (while in first class on a 777!)
And Dad just on the other side! He sat in Jaclyn's extra seat and had dinner with us then we all turned our chairs into flat out beds and slept for the rest of the flight. The flight over there was perfect! (Nothing like the roller-coaster coming home, which there are no pictures of.)
After our nap we had some welcome drinks at the hotel with IFALDA and then we went with a few of Dad's friends to dinner. Here, Dad and I outside the train station at the airport.
We walked and walked and walked intending to go to some Italian place that Dad's friend wanted to go to... and we ended up at a Hard Rock Cafe our first night in Amsterdam.
Pooped from the walk, we took a cab back to the train station. This was after 1am.

Next day, we toured the Heineken Brewery!

Dad, always full of questions, was asking the bartender if they washed the glasses. She was pointing out that you can tell how clean the glass was if you could see the rings from your sips. We had a wide range of dirty and clean glasses for the rest of the trip! The ones at Heineken were very clean.
Having drinks with our new friends.

Our hotel was a 5 minute shuttle ride to the airport, which was about a 20 minute train ride from downtown. We were shocked to get back to the hotel after our first full day to find the hotel bar closed, the bar next door closed, no where to buy any beer. We were informed that yes, you are in Amsterdam, but to get a drink it will require about 40 minute hike back to where you just came from.
Luckily, Dad remembered we had a mini-bar, and I thought of the fun souvenier beers we had bottled with our names on them at the Heineken Brewery.
We decided that they wouldn't travel well anyway, so we decided to do our sisters a favor by drinking them instead of wasting them! Click on the picture for a better look at our names on the bottles.

Oh and by the way, the power outlets apparently couldn't handle my Chi so that is why my hair is looking so terrible. Jac somehow still managed to get hers to look good but mine was awful the entire trip.
