changes

it all started about a week ago. wade and i decided to check out the labor day furniture sales. we've been looking off and on, just waiting for the perfect deal on something we loved. which happened last saturday! as i came home wondering how this furniture was going to look, i realized how DIFFERENT (good-different) it was from what we already had. i immediately zoned in on our entertainment center. originally, it was just a light colored wood. when we moved into this new house, we painted it black and i've always felt that there was something wrong with it, but didn't know what it was until just then.

i went into the garage to get the electric sander and got to work distressing every corner and edge. then i painted on a clear coat of polyurethane, and made a trip to hobby lobby to buy new knobs. (yay for 50% off sale!). this entire furniture makeover only cost me $15!

i have several posts coming up to show off all the little projects i've been working on all week. i'm not joking when i say i've literally been walking around with a sander in one hand and a paint brush in the other thinking "what can i do to this? paint it? distress it? glaze it? mod-podge it? sew something? hot-glue something to it? let's give it a try"

MY TO-DO PROJECTS:

game room:
-paint game room furniture red (tv stand, coffee table, side table), and distress
-turn coffee table into austin's art table
-make slipcover for sofa (not any time soon - i have to wait till i'm in the mood for it)
-make curtains (far away future)
-magnet-paint, and then chalk board-paint playroom section

still a little work left to do in my office:
-paint white-board on my desk top

OR

-mod-podge the desk top
-put shelves up and get clutter off desk
-make chalk-board or white-board for wall

kitchen:
-new curtains (already have the pattern and fabric - CANT WAIT!)
-buy new rugs (no rush)
-um... paint?!? (yikes, can't wait to break it to hubby)

front room/poker room:
-new curtains (already found at lowe's of all places)
